Trevell Gerald Coleman, better known by his stage name G. Dep

Trevell Coleman—G. Dep—“Ghetto Dependent”—was Harlem in HD. He could make a record fun without pretending the world was sweet. That’s a rare balance: bounce + truth.

Bad Boy brought him in during a golden stretch, and he delivered moments people still quote—“Special Delivery” energy, club chaos, Uptown flavor. Child of the Ghetto (2001) was his official introduction: stories, style, swagger.

Later chapters of his life are documented elsewhere—heavy, human, complicated—but the music he contributed to the Bad Boy era still matters because it’s part of how Harlem sounded when the world was watching.
